Essential Tips for the 4-Day Carnival in Blackstone

Before you head down to the high school grounds, check out these essential tips for a smooth and comfortable visit.

Event Parking, Shuttles, & Restrictions

To accommodate everyone safely, we have both on-site and off-site parking options available:

  • Off-Site Public Parking (JFK School): The primary parking hub for the event is located at the JFK School lots. Continuous, free shuttle buses will run all weekend long to transport you directly to and from the BMR High School grounds.

  • On-Site Parking and Restrictions: Limited free parking is available directly at BMR High School on a first-come, first-served basis only on Thursday, July 23. Starting Friday until Sunday (July 24 – July 26), BMR parking is strictly reserved for authorized event and security personnel. General public vehicles will not be permitted to park on the high school grounds.

  • Support Our Volunteers: While parking and shuttles are completely free, our lots are staffed by wonderful volunteers from local community organizations who are giving their time to keep traffic moving safely. If you are able, please consider making a voluntary donation to these hard-working groups at the gate to support their great work in our community!

Temporary Neighborhood Parking Restrictions

Strict temporary restrictions will be enforced on surrounding residential streets:

  • NO PARKING (Both Sides): Florence Drive (entire length), Florence Drive North, Roberta Drive, and Patricia Drive.

  • Residential Lane: No parking on either side from the start of Residential Ln up to #28. From #28 around the loop, parking is allowed on the right side only.

  • Dawn Street: Parking is permitted on the sidewalk section only up to the cul-de-sac.

  • Lincoln Street: Parking is allowed only on the school side from 195 Lincoln Street up to the Mendon Street intersection.

Road Closures & Traffic

While the Saturday morning 5K will not require road closures, daily traffic restrictions will be in place around the event grounds to ensure pedestrian safety.

  • Closure Points: Road closures will be active at Residential / Lincoln and Lincoln / Blackstone.

  • Times: Closures go into effect 30 minutes before the event opens each day and will remain in place until 30 minutes after the night concludes. Please plan your routes accordingly!

Handicap Access & Parking

  • On-Site HP Parking (BMR High School): There are 4 to 5 dedicated handicap parking spaces located directly next to the BMR High School track by Lincoln St., along with a few additional spots around the back of the school. Because these spots are limited and based on real-time availability, please flag down a police officer or parking volunteer if you need guidance.

  • Off-Site HP Parking & Shuttles (JFK School): Plenty of accessible handicap parking spaces are available at JFK Elementary School. Fully accessible shuttle vans will run continuously back and forth to transport guests directly to and from the high school grounds all weekend long.

  • Accessible Shuttles: Fully handicap-accessible vans will run continuously, transporting guests directly to the event grounds from the JFK School parking lot.

On-Site Assistance & Safety

  • UTV Emergency Vehicle: For medical and safety emergencies, a dedicated UTV utility vehicle operated by local Police will be on-site and active throughout the 4-day weekend.

  • Beer Tent Security: Our community beer garden (operated by the Polish Hall) features an open-entry setup. However, strict age-checking policies are in place; Blackstone Police officers will be stationed at the Beer Tent.

Prohibited on the Grounds

  • No Wheels (Strictly Enforced): For the safety of our walking crowds, regular bikes, e-bikes, skateboards, hoverboards, and roller skates are strictly prohibited on-site.

  • No Pets: Only fully trained service animals meeting ADA guidelines are permitted. No family pets or emotional support animals are allowed on the property.

  • Public Cannabis Consumption: In accordance with town regulations, the public consumption of cannabis is strictly prohibited anywhere on the school grounds or event property.

Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging

There is no EV charging available on the high school property. If you need to plug in, the nearest public charging stations can be found at:

Restrooms & Facilities

  • Outdoor & Indoor Restrooms: We will have plenty of portable restrooms (porta-potties) stationed outdoors around the festival grounds and midway.

  • Indoor Restrooms: If you prefer indoor plumbing, the BMR High School building will be open to the public all weekend with fully working, accessible indoor restrooms.

Escaping the Sun & Finding Comfort

  • Shop and Step Indoors: Need a break from the July sun? Head inside the BMR High School building to browse our Indoor Artisan & Vendor Fair! It’s the perfect opportunity to beat the direct heat, support local crafters, and enjoy some indoor seating. Shaded areas will also be available across the outdoor festival grounds.

  • What to Bring: Lawn chairs and blankets are highly encouraged for main stage viewing and Saturday’s fireworks display!
